Protecting Africa’s Wildlife

African Wildlife Veterinarians exists to support and scale the lifesaving work of wildlife veterinarians on the frontlines of conservation in Africa.

We mobilise funding, partnerships, and public support to ensure that skilled veterinary teams can respond when it matters most. From treating injured animals and rescuing wildlife in crisis, to supporting conservation efforts that protect species for the long term.

Every intervention is a second chance for wildlife, and a step towards securing Africa’s natural heritage.

Why Wildlife Veterinarians are Essential

Wildlife veterinarians are essential to modern conservation. As threats to biodiversity increase, through habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, poaching, and disease, the need for skilled veterinary intervention continues to grow.

• Treating injured and orphaned wildlife
• Responding to poaching and snaring incidents
• Managing disease outbreaks and health risks
• Supporting relocations and population management
• Contributing to long-term conservation strategies

As long as these threats persist, wildlife veterinarians will remain a critical line of defence for Africa’s wildlife.
